Develop skills to apply and prepare for interviews for work

DELIVERY METHOD – This course is practical, you will learn by completing tasks. Your lecturer will be on hand to help and guide you as you learn. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS – No experience required

THINGS YOU WILL STUDY:
  • Use App inventor to become familiar with its functions
  • Design a simple game for a smart device
  • Build your App from your own design
  • Test your App to make sure it works as you want it to
  • Make improvements and enhancements to your App
  • At the end there will be a presentation of a College certificate for satisfactory completion.  

PROGRESSION – Upon completion you be able to move onto our longer adult Apps Design course.

The course is scheduled to run twice per term.

The Samsung Experience Academy will provide students with a once in a life time opportunity to start a career in software development and application (apps) development in the state of the art academy in Kidderminster. You will have access to the latest Smart TVs and Smart hand held devices using the Android application and the knowledge that all lecturers will have close links with industry through the Samsung network of software developers. The one year course explains how to get started with developing applications for Samsung Smart technologies by introducing basic concepts, the application development process, and the Software Development Kit (SDK)

The two year programme will be delivered in our new Samsung Experience Academy where students will work with the latest high tech technology products from 3D LED Smart TVs, blu-ray players, 3D surround sound systems, PCs and a wide range of Smart hand held devices. Students will be equipped with both the technical knowledge and the practical skills to prepare them to progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship programme with key employers within the SMART digital technologies sector. Birmingham Metropolitan College has excellent links with the technology industry sector through Samsung Electronics UK and key national companies including Dixons Retail, PC World, Currys, BSkyB, CEDIA Group, John Lewis and the Premier Samsung Service Network UK-wide.
