 Studying fashion at The Academy will prepare you for the many career opportunities within the sector, including gaining skills and experience in

As a fashion student you will have the opportunity to explore design, concept, fashion production, styling, fashion photography and illustration and experimental textile design. You will look at trend prediction, identify potential markets and manage runway events. Our fashion courses offer structured pathways that support you to progress to university or into the workplace. Throughout your studies at The Academy, you will take part in live industry briefs and projects to gain practical industry experience. Recent examples include;

In addition you will develop historical and cultural awareness through a range of international and national visits including the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Museum of Costume in Bath.

Fashion and visual merchandising courses at the Academy

You will develop practical skills in a range of fashion related subjects; explore, experiment with ideas, and develop traditional skills.
Our qualifications provide a broad approach to the fashion industry – fashion design, fashion visualisation, pattern cutting, construction techniques and drawing techniques.



 

This one year course will develop practical skills in a range of fashion related subjects and provides an excellent introduction to the creative industries. Students will explore and experiment with ideas, develop traditional skills and gain a qualification which gives them a broad understanding of fashion design, fashion visualisation, pattern cutting, hand and machine sewing, working in the fashion industry and drawing techniques.

This two year course covers all aspects of fashion and is aimed at students who have a keen interest in this creative field. The course offers the opportunity to explore the design and production of both fashion and textiles, whilst developing a real understanding of professional working practices within the fashion industry. Students will develop these skills through a variety of lectures, workshops and live projects (including Clothes Show Live, Style Birmingham and PIN Fashion).
