Kidderminster Academy students showed a flair for fashion when they helped out at a high profile fashion show held at intu Merry Hill recently – and they bagged a catwalk success!

Four students studying Fashion & Retail Diploma Level 3 got the opportunity to pick outfits from local retailers and style models at intu Merry Hill’s recent Spring Summer 2015 Fashion Show organised by events management company, Maynineteen.

Taylor Monger, one of the students, said:  “On the two days I was there we were tasked with going to various shops to collect the chosen clothes as well as gathering together all relevant paper work needed for the show. In some of the stores we went to we were given the opportunity to help choose and style the clothes and organise the different outfits for the models.

“I really enjoyed the experience and being given the opportunity. It gave me more of an insight into styling and I learned what goes into organising a successful fashion show. Also, working alongside Mayninteen and intu showed us first-hand what it would be like to work in the industry.”

Rob Pickersgill, Marketing Manager at intu Merry Hill, said: “Our seasonal fashion shows are really popular and draw the crowds. It was great having students working alongside our professional staff as it provided a real working environment for them and gave them a glimpse of what it’s like to organise and stage a show from start to finish, utilising the skills they’ve learned on their Fashion & Retail course.  We were really impressed with their ideas and input and look forward to welcoming more students at future events.”
